Blue Öyster Cult
The rock group Blue Öyster Cult is well-known for their disturbing music, and they have touched on the vampire theme several times:
- Tattoo Vampire from the 1976 album Agents of Fortune. The song might not be about a vampire, it likens the process of tattooing to a vampire encounter. On the other hand, perhaps the tattoo was merely the start...
- I Love the Night from the 1977 album Spectres. Vampires are not specifically mentioned, but these lines make it pretty clear:
- No mortal was meant to see such wonder
One look in the mirror told me so
Come darkness I'll see her again
- No mortal was meant to see such wonder
- Nosferatu also from Spectres. Nosferatu, of course, is a synonym for vampire. The lyrics mostly follow the plot of the 1922 German Expressionist horror film of the same name, except that the woman who offers herself to defeat the vampire is called Lucy, not Ellen. The name Lucy may have been taken from Bram Stoker's book Dracula (1897).
- After Dark from the 1981 album Fire of Unknown Origin. Again, vampires are not mentioned, but consider these lines:
- "One I heard you sing your song I had no choice"
- "Of age there is no question"
- "And shelter from the sun"
- "My fate is traced in blood"
