Ultraviolet
The 2006 film Ultraviolet, starring Milla Jovovich, was partially shot in Hong Kong. In the futuristic film, some humans have been infected with a virus that give them superhuman powers. In politically-correct terms, they are referred to as hemophages, more commonly, as vampires. There is a war between vampires and humans. Jovovich plays Ultraviolet, a vampire who decides to protect a boy, Six, who may be carrying antigens that would destroy all hemophages.
Locations in Hong Kong included:
- Cyberport. Used for interior shots of a shopping mall. The shooting took place before that section of the Cyberport was complete. About 100 extras were used for shopping mall crowds.
- Hong Kong International Airport
- Disused Government Offices in Shatin, on Tung Lo Wan Hill Road. Used for interior scenes, notably the "hospital" or research facility where the hemophage problem was first identified, or developed.
